Secret ingredients
Mandarine Napoléon is a high-quality liqueur made with mandarins, cognac and a secret combination of . That’s why the liqueur has such a complexity; with every sip you taste the richness of nature. Mandarine Napoléon is distilled at ‘Distillerie de Biercée’, the only fruit distillery in existence in Belgium.
Only the freshest mandarins
Did you know it’s the only liqueur in the world made with natural mandarins? Only the freshest mandarin peels from Sicily (Italy) are being used — a very fine peel with a very little pith. The result is an abundance of zest.
A spirit created for an Emperor
In the early 1800s Mandarine Napoléon was created by French physician and secretary of Napoléon Bonaparte, Antoine François de Fourcroy. The story goes that he created the orange liqueur for Napoleon Bonaparte himself infusing the finest French Cognac with mandarins from Napoléon’s birth place Corsica. Hence the name Mandarine Napoléon. Years later Belgian chemist and distiller Louis Schmidt discovered the recipe of Napoléon’s favourite drink in Fourcroy’s diary. He was intrigued by the recipe, refined it and in 1892 the high-quality liqueur from Belgium was first sold to the public. The liqueur’s history is as rich as its distinctive flavour.
Bold blend
For MN we start with a maceration of mandarine peels in strong alcohol, which is then distilled in Arnold Holstein copper pot stills to obtain a concentrate, or as we call it, a distillate. We only use the finest middle part, the heart of the distillation that carries the purest and freshest flavor of the mandarins and botanicals. Sit back and enjoy this bold blend of refined cognac and elegant mandarins. Back in the day they said only emperors could appreciate the unique composition of true flavours. Today it’s available for everyone who enjoys an exquisite flavour.
